Zur Verstärkung unseres Teams suchen wir einen Technical Director (m/w/d), der den technologischen Wandel bei uns aktiv anführt – mit strategischem Blick, starker Umsetzungskraft und echter Hands-on-Mentalität. In dieser Schlüsselrolle übernimmst du die technische Gesamtverantwortung für unsere Plattform, führst ein internationales Engineering-Team, triffst richtungsweisende Architekturentscheidungen und treibst die Modernisierung unserer Systemlandschaft entschlossen voran.

Deine Aufgaben

Technische Gesamtverantwortung: Leitung der Transformation unserer Software-Architektur von Legacy-Systemen hin zu modernen Technologien (Cloud, Microservices, API-first).
Hands-on-Leadership: Du bist nicht nur Stratege, sondern auch Macher: Du unterstützt das Team direkt bei Architekturfragen, Code-Reviews, Prototyping und komplexen technischen Herausforderungen.
Architektur und Technologieauswahl: Du triffst fundierte Entscheidungen zu Tools, Frameworks, Plattformen und stellst sicher, dass wir technologisch zukunftsfähig sind.
Teamführung & Coaching: Du baust ein starkes, motiviertes Entwicklerteam auf und entwickelst bestehende Talente weiter (internationales Team, 20 Mitarbeiter). Mentoring, technische Exzellenz und eine positive Teamkultur liegen dir am Herzen.
Stakeholder-Management: Du arbeitest eng mit Produktmanagement, Operations und Management zusammen, übersetzt technische Komplexität in verständliche Sprache und bringst Business- und Technikziele in Einklang.
Qualität und Prozesse: Du erweiterst bestehende Best Practices in Entwicklung, Testing sowie Deployment (CI/CD, DevOps) und sorgst für messbare Verbesserungen in Codequalität, Performance und Sicherheit.
Budgetverantwortung: Du planst, verwaltest und hältst das Budget nach für den Tech Bereich.

Das bringst du mit

Mehrjährige Erfahrung als Tech Director, Head of Engineering oder Lead Architect, idealerweise in Transformationsprojekten.
Tiefes technisches Wissen in Softwareentwicklung (z. B. Java, Spring Boot) sowie moderner Architektur (Microservices, Event-driven Architectures, Cloud-Plattformen).
Praktische Erfahrung mit der Transformation von Legacy-Systemen.
Hands-on-Mentalität: Du scheust dich nicht, auch mal selbst in den Code einzusteigen.
Erfahrung in der Führung, Motivation und Entwicklung von Entwicklerteams.
Ausgeprägte Kommunikationsstärke und Fähigkeit, technische Themen für Nicht-Techniker verständlich zu machen.
Starkes analytisches Denken, Entscheidungsfreude und ein hohes Verantwortungsbewusstsein.
Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift.

Nice-to-have:

Erfahrung in Logistik-Software (TMS, WMS, Carrier-Integrationen).
Kenntnisse von skalierenden, hochverfügbaren Plattformen.
Erfahrung in regulierten Umgebungen (z. B. Compliance, Datensicherheit).
Erfahrung in der Leitung von Data Teams

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Technical Director (f/m/d) who will actively lead our technological transformation – with strategic vision, strong execution skills, and a true hands-on mentality.
In this key role, you will take full technical ownership of our platform, lead an international engineering team, make decisive architecture choices, and confidently drive the modernization of our system landscape.

Your Key Responsibilities

Technical leadership: Oversee the transformation of our software architecture from legacy systems to modern technologies (Cloud, Microservices, API-first).
Hands-on leadership: You’re not just a strategist, you’re also a doer. You actively support the team with architecture decisions, code reviews, prototyping, and complex technical challenges.
Architecture & technology choices: You make informed decisions on tools, frameworks, and platforms to ensure our tech stack is sustainable and future-ready.
Team leadership & coaching: You build a strong, motivated development team and help existing talent grow (international team of 20 engineers). You care about mentoring, technical excellence, and positive team culture.
Stakeholder management: You work closely with Product Management, Operations, and the Executive Team, translating technical complexity into clear language and aligning business and technology goals.
Quality & processes: You expand our best practices in development, testing, and deployment (CI/CD, DevOps), and drive measurable improvements in code quality, performance, and security.
Budget responsibility: You plan, manage, and monitor the tech department’s budget.

What you need to succeed

Several years of experience as a Tech Director, Head of Engineering, or Lead Architect – ideally in transformation projects
Deep technical expertise in software development (e.g. Java, Spring Boot) and modern architecture (Microservices, event-driven architectures, cloud platforms)
Practical experience in transforming legacy systems
Hands-on mentality: you're not afraid to get into the code yourself
Proven experience in leading, motivating, and developing engineering teams
Excellent communication skills and the ability to make technical topics understandable to non-tech stakeholders
Strong analytical thinking, decision-making ability, and a high sense of ownership
Fluent in both German and English, spoken and written

Nice to Have

Experience with logistics software (TMS, WMS, carrier integrations)
Knowledge of scalable, high-availability platforms
Experience in regulated environments (e.g. compliance, data security)
Experience leading Data Teams
